Who I Am
I am a lifelong learner, and I bring that perspective to my design work by continually asking questions, seeking knowledge, and experimenting. I am excited by the opportunity to create intuitive digital experiences, and I welcome that challenge. Outside of work, painting, drawing, and sewing as well as weightlifting and playing pickleball. I love languages and am continually learning French and Spanish.
Philosophy
As a UX designer, I design digital tools that make life easier and have a meaningful impact on people day-to-day. I’ve cultivated the skills of empathizing with people and assessing and responding to their needs. This allows me to continually iterate to create successful designs. I strive to create frictionless and inclusive digital experiences measured through user feedback and quantitative success metrics.
Journey
I had originally been drawn to work in education because of the opportunities to work closely with others, do meaningful work, and inspire learning in others. I completed a Master’s in Education at the University of Pennsylvania and have taught in diverse contexts. The increase in institutional challenges in education combined with my desire to do work that appeals to my visual side led me to seek evolution in my career. Reflecting on my skills and interests, I became inspired to explore UX Design, and as I learned more I became excited about the opportunity to apply many of the skills I learned from teaching while engaging in visual problem solving. I took the initiative to educate myself in UX design. I sought mentorship through professionals in the field, researched and completed best practices for UX design training as well as learned by doing and creating.
Design Experience
I’ve had the opportunity to design and iterate on a web portal and mobile app to help Air Force Reservists manage readiness and communication. I’ve collaborated on this project for over a year, have met with stakeholders at the Airlift Wing, and work closely with the development team to create a platform that is tailored to the users and their needs.
I’ve also had the opportunity to work with a startup technology firm, Vouch, to improve the designs of foundational parts of their platform. Additionally, I have engaged in independent projects where I’ve taken an idea from concept through to a prototype as well as experimented with a conceptual redesign.
